How Gnoseed works

Learn it once.
Remember it for good.

Reading a doc once doesn't make it stick. Gnoseed turns practical concepts into flashcards and uses spaced repetition to resurface them exactly when you're about to forget — so the knowledge lasts.

The learning loop

Four steps, repeated until it sticks

No setup, no syllabus. You answer, the algorithm schedules, you come back. That's the whole loop.

1

Pick a category & quiz

Choose from 21 developer decks — Kubernetes, Terraform, AI & LLMs and more — each holding focused quizzes you can drill on their own.

2

Answer practical questions

Real, job-relevant multiple-choice questions written by a developer. No trivia, just what matters in practice.

3

Get rated automatically

No self-assessment. Your answer's correctness and response time set the card quality for you.

4

Review at the right time

Spaced repetition brings each card back just before you forget it — and your knowledge garden grows.

Why spaced repetition

Beat the forgetting curve

Without review, memory of a new concept decays fast — most of it gone within days. Each time you successfully recall a card, the memory resets stronger and decays slower.

Gnoseed times each review to land just before you'd forget. Fewer reviews, longer retention, no cramming.

  • Reviews scheduled right before you forget
  • Cards you struggle with come back sooner
  • Less time studying, more retained long-term

Frequently asked

Do I need an account to start?

No. Gnoseed runs fully offline in your browser — start a session instantly. Sign in only if you want to sync progress, streaks and settings across devices.

How do you decide when a card comes back?

Your chosen algorithm (SM-2 or FSRS) schedules every card. Answer it correctly and the interval grows; miss it and the card returns sooner. Cards that are due resurface on your dashboard.

What's the difference between SM-2 and FSRS?

SM-2 is a simple, predictable interval formula. FSRS models your memory stability and difficulty per card for fewer reviews and better long-term retention. You can switch anytime in Settings — your streak and review count carry over.

Where do the questions come from?

Every deck is written by a developer — practical, job-relevant multiple-choice questions, not trivia. New topics land regularly.

Is it really free?

Yes. No account, no credit card, no ads. Your data stays in your browser unless you choose to sign in and sync.
