How long must a manufacturer's support period normally last?
- AAt least five years, unless the product is expected to be in use for a shorter time

Why this is the answer
The support period has to reflect how long the product is realistically in use, and the regulation sets five years as the floor, with a shorter period only where the product's expected use is genuinely shorter. It is not tied to the consumer guarantee period, and it does not end because a model leaves the catalogue — buyers of the last unit are still inside their support period.
