How long does a node launched by EKS Auto Mode live?

Why this is the answer

Auto Mode nodes have a maximum lifetime of 21 days, which you can shorten, and are then replaced with fresh instances. That pairs with immutable AMIs, SELinux enforcement and read-only root file systems: nothing is patched in place, and regular cycling is the security posture rather than a side effect. Replacement does not wait for workloads to drain away on their own, and it is not tied to cluster version upgrades.
