They are not a single ladder: each targets a different job, so picking the right one starts with knowing whether you use Claude, build on it, or design systems around it.
Two things are worth clearing up before you read on, because they are the questions people arrive with. First, the Foundations exams have no prerequisite certifications — you do not have to earn one credential before another, the result is what awards it, and there is no hidden ladder to climb. Second, there is an access rule: the exams are open to people at organisations in the Claude Partner Network, and registering through the Anthropic Partner Academy requires a company email on a domain recognised on your organisation's partner record — a personal address will not work. Membership is free for organisations, so it is paperwork rather than a paywall, but it is the step that surprises people.
